About
Jennifer Gonzalez is the Director of Painting on Park. Painting since the age of 5, she grew up in her grandmother, Dalia Condis’, art studio- a well known and respected staple of the community for over 40 years in nearby Hudson County. It was under her grandmother’s classical training that she developed a love for painting and teaching. Her grandmother always joked that she was born with a brush in her hand, ready for action!
Jennifer went on to study at the School of Visual Arts in NYC and at New Jersey City University, achieving her BFA in Graphic Design. She landed her first internship at Rolling Stone magazine, and it was there that she was introduced to the art of digital photography and design and was able to marry her fine art skills to the publishing world. In 2002, she went on to join the team at GQ magazine, where she has built her career and is currently serving as Art Production Director.
Being exposed to the high level of quality under both her grandmother and GQ’s prestigious Art department, it has caused her to fuse classical and modern approaches in her work and teaching style. Even though she has made her career in magazines, Jennifer has always dreamed of continuing the tradition that her grandmother began in Havana, Cuba by opening her own art studio . She has been teaching painting since the young age of 14 and privately to students of all ages for the past 7 years.
She lives in Rutherford with her husband, JJ, and their two beautiful budding artist children, Jake and Sofia.
